Stretcher bars from Canvasi

What the marble is to the sculptor, the canvas is to the painter. In order to be able to paint it at all, the canvas must be stretched on a frame. For this purpose, stretcher frames have proven their worth for centuries, and their technology is constantly being improved. Precise incisions in the stretcher bars allow them to be inserted into each other at an exact 90° angle. The canvas is then pulled onto the wooden frame and fixed at the back. Stretcher bars for every format

Strung stretcher bars are often available in standard square and rectangular sizes. If you want to live out your creativity beyond the standard dimensions, you can create your painting surface in the size of your choice with our stretcher bars and the matching canvas for painting. Here you have the choice between different designs:

• Basic (1.7 cm thick)
• Standard (1.8 cm thick)
• XXL (3.9 cm thick)

The Basic stretcher bars are limited to a maximum length of 120 cm, while the XXL bars are designed for particularly large canvases. For each ledge you will receive two clamping wedges to wedge out the stretcher.

For large formats: Intermediate strips

For large formats, we recommend reinforcing the stretcher bars with intermediate strips. As soon as the stretcher bars reach a length of 80 cm, they are equipped with the appropriate slots for attaching the intermediate bars. From a length of 160 cm, the strips are equipped with two slots to stabilize the stretcher. The intermediate strips are perfectly adapted to the stretcher bars, so that they can be inserted exactly.

Made in Germany: stretcher bars in the highest quality

Canvasi's stretcher bars are manufactured in Germany. We pay attention to the sustainable production of the products, which is why we only use wood from responsible forestry, which is certified by the FSC® seal. Mainly spruce wood is used. In the production process, the spruce stretcher bars are wedge-galvanized several times, which makes them absolutely straight. With our premium line in sturdy beech wood, however, we also have a noble alternative on offer.
